March Rescue Mission

Transport crates holding dogs.

Thankfully, our next rescue mission in March was a little less chaotic! This time, we had 21 dogs coming into Vancouver, with zero floods included.

Our only real hiccup came in the form of custom delays once the dogs touched down in Vancouver, meaning that some the families had to wait longer before they could collect their dog.

Everyone was incredibly patient though, and waited the extra time out in the cold for the arrival of their new family members.

We even had a news crew from CCTV who showed up to cover the event, and an article that appeared in People Magazine.

We were super grateful to have had the support of our adoption partners Rescue Paws Canada and also media organisation Lady Freethinker, who was generous enough to sponsor the flight and help bring our beloved dogs over to Canada.

From this flight, we’ve had three dogs whose stories demonstrate what a true happily ever after looks like.

First we have Cooper, who you may remember was featured previously in last week’s blog post.

Cooper ended up with the perfect active couple who take him on plenty of outdoor adventures, from hiking and lake trips, to camping and snow trekking.

Cooper has also helped his adoptive mom Stacy maintain structure and routine when working from home in the previous months.

Next, there was Akela (formerly named Bei Bei). Akela’s family was originally only meant to be a temporary foster family.

However, they became a foster fail when they fell in love with her and saw how beautifully she assimilated into their family.

Originally a very shy dog, Akela has opened up more and more to her foster parents, becoming much more affectionate and growing very close to her new sibling Oakley.

And finally, little Pepper.

Pepper is quirky, curious and adores cuddles with her adoptive father, Robert.

The pair have become inseparable over the past month, and she’s been a wonderful companion to him through his chronic health issues and in simply giving him a greater sense of purpose in his life.

These three dogs and their stories were also extensively covered in an article by Lady Freethinker, which you can read here.

Overall the mission was a success, with so many dogs placed in loving homes, we were ready for our next rescue mission come April!
