Brothers and Sisters Rehomed in Canada
After the first family we had adopted out to Canada (which you can read all about here!), we were lucky enough to get another little family perfectly situated over there.
This time it was a family of four dogs - Ozzy (formerly Keke), Bao Bao, Jen Jen and Akela (formerly known as Bei Bei), and their mother, Sugar, who had been rescued during the harsh Beijing Winter.
Despite being biologically related, none of them looked like their mother, or each other - save for Bei Bei and Bao Bao.
Unfortunately not long after their rescue, Sugar died of cancer, and it was up to us to ensure that her babies were happy, healthy and safe - wherever they ended up.
As they were all larger dogs, it was much easier to secure them homes overseas in Canada, as opposed to in China.
As the months came and went, we found homes for them and had them scheduled onto flights that would take them there.
Both brothers Ozzy and Jen Jen arrived on our rescue flight to Canada in November, with help from Embrace a Discarded Animal Society and Wings of Rescue.
Ozzy is super sweet, playful and goofy. Although he’s still a little bit apprehensive about people, he loves his new mom Mia, and he’s getting better with other people every day.
The two sisters, Akela and Bao Bao, ended up arriving on our March Rescue flight with the help of Lady Freethinker and our adoption partners, Rescue Paws Canada.
Akela is a sweet and slightly shy girl, who adores her new mom Rita, dad Johnny and sibling Oakley. They were originally supposed to simply foster her, but they all fell in love with her and she just fit so perfectly into their family. You can read about Akela and her success story in our recent blog post covering our March rescue mission.
Bao Bao is timid, but slowly warming up to her new family, also.
Unfortunately we haven’t received many updates about Bao Bao, or Jen Jen, but we do know the families they were placed with are very kind people who love them the way they deserve to be loved.
We’re sure that if Sugar were still here, she would be smiling down from heaven, happy that her babies finally got their happily ever after.
