11 Dogs Rescued
Los Angeles, California
WOA Foundation believes in flying dogs.
Yes, we believe in miracles. This September, WOA Foundation volunteers joined Helenna Nobler (@chinadogsflytousa) to help welcome and care for 11 dogs who were lucky enough to make it to the USA for adoption.
WOA volunteers helped acquire the dogs from customs, give them food and water, a nice walk in the grass, and helped load them up to go to their foster homes. The best part was the love and affection they were able to give these travelers after their long journeys.
Practice makes perfect.
Helenna has been rescuing animals since 2015 and has transported over 400 dogs from China to the USA. Experienced in the logistics and complexities of transporting dogs from China to the USA, Helenna is adept at negotiation and knowledgeable of the intricacies of the rules and regulations necessary to do this work. With her experience and advice, WOA is on its way to creating our own adoption program.
“You’re in a free country, now,” --Helenna to one of the new American dogs.
Although it takes a lot of resources to bring these dogs over from China, it is worth it, not only for the individual dog, but in terms of the hope that it gives the rescuers in China when they see one of their precious charges step onto American land.
To the rescuers in China, who have personally saved these dogs from the street or the slaughterhouse, it is the pinnacle of success when dogs arrive in the free world. One rescuer described it as “going from hell to heaven.”

We know it isn’t possible to save them all by transporting them out of China into loving families, but we are committed to giving a few that chance while we continue to facilitate our other programs to shelter, feed, provide vet care, and spay/neuter more homeless animals.
Only through this multichannel approach to the dog crisis in China will any real progress be made. Please join us and become a part of it.
Please consider adopting, sponsoring, or donating for the transport of one of our shelter dogs. You can donate today at: woafoundation.org/donate-now
