800 Dogs Left Alone on Gobi Desert To Die

When Huajian, the founder of Wall Foundation, heard about 800 dogs captured by a government pound were left alone to die in the Gobi Desert, Huajian and her 700 supporters went ballistic.  The group reached a consensus and unanimously decided that, no matter how hard it would be, they would take on the challenge to care for these 800 dogs.

Wall Foundation in China Refused to Let Such a Tragedy Happen

Huajian, a college professor by day and animal activists by night, founded “Wall Foundation” two years ago with the mission to rescue animals and support shelters and individual rescuers in China. With quick growth and huge followings on social media, Wall Foundation helps dozens of shelters and rescuers throughout the country on a monthly basis. For most of these shelters and rescuers, Wall Foundation is their only hope in keeping the dogs they save alive, post-rescue.  This puts tremendous pressure on Huajian, who feels personally responsible for all the dogs and cats they support.

When the news of this 800 dogs at a government pound at Gobi Desert spread, Huajian just couldn’t sit on the sideline.

Instead, she committed herself and the foundation to take on the responsibility of caring for these 800 dogs knowing full well the insurmountable challenges that lay ahead. Through negotiation, the government allowed her local volunteer group to take over the pound’s operations while they provide “safety protection and surveillance” on a desert where there is no people and traffic-- that’s the arrangement.

Basically, Huajian and her foundation has to provide all the funds necessary.

While working collaboratively with a local volunteer group (she is based in Beijing while the shelter is thousands of miles away) she began the real work.  She was not deterred in any way. She was determined to make it happen.  She swiftly assembled a group of local volunteers, supported the group with funds for hiring workers and kibble. With successful fundraising campaigns and a new supporter base expanding within a month, funds poured in, but, it is still not enough to provide for all their needs.

 WOA???

There are so many other urgent needs to be addressed immediately, none of the dogs are spayed and neutered, the foundation simply doesn’t have any fund for this and the dogs are multiplying in the shelter.

When Huajian approached WOA and asked for help in building chain fence kennels to separate male and female dogs, we took action immediately by sending funds.  Within thirty days, kennels are built and dogs are separated by gender.

This is a temporary solution for now while we attend to other immediate threats, such as winter needs.  WOA is working to provide an on-site spay and neuter operation in Springtime when the weather is mild.

While we are still in the thick of dead cold winter, summer will be here in no time.

With 800 dogs living outdoors in the desert and summer temperatures well over 100 degrees fahrenheit, we must plan for summer now. Wall Foundation tries as hard as they can to save the dogs from the cold winter, but they absolutely need help for Summer by building indoor kennels and installing air conditioning to keep the dogs they have worked so hard to save--alive!

Will you please give $10, $20 or any amount to help save these dogs by donating now at:
